This recipe includes a simple hack for shaping the Musubi, making it easy to mold into a perfect rectangle. Perfect for those potlucks or a tasty snack at home!
Recipe:
Serving: 8 pcs
Time: 20 minutes
Ingredients:
4 cups Cooked Rice
1 can Spam
1 & 1/2 tbsp Soy Sauce
1 & 1/2 tbsp Mirin
1 tbsp Sugar
4 pcs Nori Seaweed (4x8 inch)
Instructions:
Cook the rice to prepare.
Cut each sheet of nori in half, creating 2x8 inch strips.
Cut the spam into 8 equal pieces.
Heat a pan and cook the spam slices on both sides until golden brown.
In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, Mirin, and sugar. Pour the mixture into the pan, coating each slice of spam evenly. Remove from heat and set aside.
Line a clean, empty spam can with plastic wrap, leaving some wrap hanging over the sides. Place 1/2 cup of rice into the can and press down firmly with a spoon to pack the rice, especially in the corners. Lift the rice block out pulling the plastic wrap.
Place a slice of spam on top of each rice block. Wrap each with a strip of Nori. Wrap the entire Musubi in plastic wrap to hold its shape.
Unwrap the Spam Musubi just before serving and enjoy.
